My little compatibility FAQ

(only I was asking myself... (-: )

I tried how it is possible to cooperate with others, who use PGP from NAI. I am using GnuPG, now in version 1.0.4 (with the latest security patch!). As PGP version, I tried the version 6.5.8-freeware.

PGP to GPG:

I found out, that there are no problems with that (maybe I did not test enough). GnuPG can read all things, that are signed and/or encrypted with the installation-defaults from PGP.

GPG to PGP:

All signatures are readable/proofable. Encrypted things produce an error at the last stage, when PGP is about unpacking them. You need to give the two options: --compress-algo 1 --cipher-algo cast5. You may also use 3des instead of cast5.

To take secret keys from GPG to PGP you need to use the following options for exporting:

gpg --s2k-cipher-algo 3des --compress-algo 1 --rfc1991 --export-secret-keys <Key-ID>

All trademarks, or otherwise reserved names, are not specially marked here, and this does not imply, that they are freely usable.
